Does your MEP BIM?
Sure, the big guys are doing it: architects, GCs, engineers. But are your MEP partners doing their part by using Building Information Modeling to serve you better?
A pioneer in our market, Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection has been enhancing the customer experience and adding value with BIM since 2005. We keep pace with project owners like general contractors and building owners, creating and sharing BIM data to streamline processes and serve our customers better. Our leadership in BIM has earned Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection a reputation as a valuable project partner, proactively contributing to reduced lead times, cost savings and improved lifecycle management for building owners
Leading the BIM Way
It only makes sense that genuine partner collaboration and comprehensive data sharing will positively affect the outcome of a building project. And although savvy project owners have been using Building Information Modeling for years, it’s rare to find local MEP contractors with the experience and knowledge it takes to add value to a project with BIM. Until now.
This proactive approach means we intercept potential problems by realizing the effects design decisions have on the entire project before construction ever begins. The construction process is positively impacted by fewer mistakes and change orders. Buildings are greener because they are produced with less waste. Building owners receive better data post project with tools to manage their facilities more efficiently. It’s a win-win for everyone, but not all MEPs are created equally.
Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection is proactive in coordination efforts with other trades by means of the BIM process and clash detection. Current technologies in software and equipment are implemented in daily activities. Several examples are the use of:
Autodesk AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP are three dimensional design tools used by designers and engineers to build models of complex building systems.
Autodesk Navisworks is a software tool that allows the input of multiple three dimensional models from all disciplines.
Trimble Total Station is a surveying tool used to locate a given point in the field.
If your building requires smarter, more efficient data, you need your project partners operating from the manual. Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection\’s abilities in creating BIM data takes our relationship with project owners to new heights–from a service provider to a dynamic partner. The kind of partner with the power to bring even greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness to your project. Call Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection today to discuss how you can benefit from our experience using BIM to manage your facility\’s needs even better.

Prefabrication for Plumbing
The inception of our prefabrication shop was a strategic decision for Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection that brings a wealth of benefits to projects where quality control and timing are of utmost importance. Our capabilities equip our team to respond to fast-paced schedules while delivering the highest quality products possible, exactly when needed.
Real Time. Real Savings.
Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection was one of the earliest adopters of prefabrication in Madison, WI. Today, with a 9,700 sq. ft. dedicated facility, prefabrication has become an integral part of our building process for both plumbing and fire protection systems.
Prefabrication benefits project outcomes in many ways. For starters, we realize a 20-40% cost savings on prefabricated assemblies. The reason behind these savings include:
Scheduling Efficiencies – Production is accelerated due to immediate access to the right equipment in-house, better coordination of materials and a more stable work environment overall. Preassembled products such as roof drains, wet walls and carriers can be installed simultaneously reducing jobsite labor and cutting installation from days to hours in many cases, making way for the masons and other laborers.
Customized Delivery – Delivery of complete assemblies on our custom designed rack systems has less impact on the jobsite in terms of space requirements and improves coordination with other trades, while offering greater flexibility in timing the delivery to the exact moment they are needed.
Risk Management – Holding assemblies until they are needed for installation reduces risk for damage on site and maintains quality until installation.
Environmental Impact – Prefabrication allows us to reduce, reuse and recycle leading to cleaner, safer jobsites. And working in a controlled environment prevents variable factors such as weather and other trades from influencing safety, and ultimately, budgets.
Safety – Assembling in a controlled environment reduces the risks associated with jobsite safety for both ourselves and the other trades.
BIM Integration – Prefabrication allows us to benefit from technologies that improve collaboration and reduce installation time.
